City planners are exploring noise-reduction strategies around critical habitats. Even small efforts—like redirecting trails away from nesting areas—can offer relief to stressed animal populations.
We often think of pollution as something we can see—plastic in rivers, smog in the sky. But perhaps the most insidious kind is the one we hear but do not recognize as harmful. If we want to preserve biodiversity, we need to think not only about what we take from nature but what we impose on it.
